In 1879, Dr. Passavant was succeeded by his son, Rev. William Passavant, Jr., who served until 1885. He was a very gifted preacher and as able pastor, having a gracious personality. He had the rare ability to so speak that the interest both of children and adults was closely held.

In 1887, rev. R. Morris smith came to the parish which by now embraced the congregations of Rehoboth, Crows Run and Baden. Rev. Smith served the parish for 20 years, from 1887 to 1907. In addition to serving the above named churches, he organized a church at the upper end of Freedom, known as Vicary Church. During his pastorate the congregation had a steady development, many improvements were made to the church building and furnishings and new organizations for young people were established. One of these, The Harriet A. Moore Mission Band, originally a group of young girls who made and sold fancy work, exists to this day. It now embraces many of the adult women of the congregation and during the forty-five years of its activities, it has raised and earned probably $20,000.00.

Rev. Smith was married early in his ministry at Baden to Miss Minnie Trumbower of Catawissa, Pa., and his family were the first to occupy the church parsonage. Mrs. Smith was possessed of a lovely character and was zealous worker in the societies of the church. Their family consisted of two children, Josephine and Luther.

For a number of years the need of a more modern church building and a better location was discussed and a considerable building fund accumulated, but the new church did not take form until 1922. It was the intention to build the new church on the corner beside the parsonage and efforts were made by Rev. Wm. F. Pfeifer, who succeeded Rev. Smith in 1908, serving until 1911, to prepare plans for a new building, but it was considered inexpedient to build on this location due to the cost of excavations and necessary steps up to the building.

During Rev. Wm. Pfeifer's pastorate, the First Church of Conway was organized by him and added to the Baden Parish.

Rev. Frank W. Richter came to the congregation in 1912 and served the parish faithfully for eight years, building up the membership and making an earnest effort to have the new church constructed but, on account of the World War, action was deferred.

in 1920, when Rev. Frederick F. Haworth succeeded as pastor, definite steps were taken to build. A new location was selected at the corner of State Street and Holmes Avenue and purchased for $2,500.00. Rev. Haworth had studied architecture and prepared the plans as well as supervised the construction, etc., of the church and parsonage. It was completed and dedicated October 1, 1922. Many notables of the church and the three living past pastors being present and taking part in the ceremonies. The cost of the new buildings was approximately $25,000.00.

Rev. Haworth continued as pastor until 1925 when the present pastor, rev. Calvin S. Brewer, was called by the congregation. He has now served acceptably for 12 years and the congregation has
