On December 10, 1928, a few years after the completion of the new larger chapel, erected on the grounds of Mt. Gallitzin solely through the combined efforts of the rapidly growing community of the Sisters of St. Joseph, permission was granted to St. John's parishioners by Most Rev. Bishop Hugh C. Boyle through the kind indulgence and generosity of the Sisters, allowing them the singular privilege of complying with their spiritual duties and fulfilling their religious obligations in this stately House of Prayer and Sacrifice until such time when a church of their own could be built in the town of Baden proper. The unused church of St. John the Baptist and cemetery adjoining are not set aside without a tinge of sadness as the little old building, one time home of the Eucharistic King, holds memories sacred that neither time nor tide can efface. There is proof that this first church though simple in design and makeup, witnessed the solemnity of marriage vows, saw children and their children's children baptized, communicate, confirmed and many times blessed; perhaps, too, this edifice received their beloved dead in a last fond embrace. Time and time again the Sacred Word of God emanated from the lips of the priest, pupled with the Blood of sacrifice, form pulpit and in confessional, fondly hoping that it strike root deeply in the heart of his faithful flock. The same message was the beacon light for falling by the wayside they die of spiritual wretchedness and hunger. They, too , striving for perfection, did they not receive words of encouragement? "Well done, thou good and faithful servant" cannot be justly applied to the present congregation, however, until a united effort, demanding unselfish service and sacrifice, meet the growing demand of a church that can be called it own.
