Berry Street, and the present fine school No. 2 was erected. Unlike school No. 1, it is of fireproof construction and contains five classrooms, teachers' and directors' rooms and an auditorium seating about 500. Therchitect was W. Ward Williams of Pittsburgh, and the building complete cost approximately $70,000.00. Since that time, with the aid of the WPA, school No. 1 has been remodeled and strengthened by placing steel stairways and tile facings in the entrance, stairs and wash rooms which greatly enhance the appearance and do away with the ever present fire hazard.

Some of the early teachers prominent in the instruction of some of our now old residents were: Isabelle Bryan, afterwards Mrs. John H. Dippold, who taught summer sessions for children of pre-school age in 1864 and 1865. Other teachers of this time were: J. H. McCreary, A. C. Thorn, Mr. Dungan, Mr. Hill, and Andrew McDonald. Coming later were: Chester Moore, J. L. Engle, Rena Singleton, Harry B. Brewer, Delia Sheets, Clara Stiffy, Mr. Kagarise, S. D. Hanley, Laura Braun, Mr. Carothers, Harry Moore, Bruce Bachus, and Miss Clarke. Many of the above teachers taught but one term. Some of the teachers who taught in the second two-room school were: Adda Sheets, S. M. White, Bert Farber, Mr. Stevens, and Mrs. Nolton. With the new school No. 1 came F. A. Barkley, Angie Gallagher, Mr. Boak, and William Lawson. Mr. Lawson has served as principal and supervising principal for 27 years and is the dean of school men in point of service in one position in Beaver County. The schools now have 13 teachers with an enrollment of 400 pupils.
