3, 1906, at which time they elected H. C. Machesney as President, and George S. Niver as Secretary. Pierce Machesney was the first Health Officer. Miller was elected treasureer of the first board. This group remained intact until February 4, 1908, at which time H. C. Machesney resigned and J. S. McDonald succeeded him as a member and as President of the Board. The Board of Health was very inactive from the time of its organization until 1911, when it was reorganized. At this time Hay W. Young was elected president, John H. Brown, Sr., Secretary, and George S. Niver, Treasurer. The most important action taken by the board during the year 1911 was the inauguration of clean-up day.

In 1912 George S. Niver resigned and was succeeded by Duncan Moore. Mr. Moore was appointed Health Officer; Mr. Thopson was elected President, and Mr. Paige was elected Secretary. At the meeting of May 12,1912, the Health Officer was ordered to notify the owner of a dead horse, then lying on the Phillips farm, to bury or burn the carcass within five days of notification.

Alec Brown was elected Health Officer in 1913. During February of that year an epidemic of measles broke out, but after a joint meeting of the School Board and the Board of Health, it was decided to keep school open.

Mr. Ehrman was elected President in 1915. The Board of Health closed the Baden School in October, 1916, because of a threatening epidemic of infantile paralysis.

In 1918 the Board consisted of: President, W. C. Urling; Secretary, W.E. McElroy; F. D. Steele, C. R. Hubbard, Charles Hannigan, and Health Officer Alec Brown.

In October, 1918, the Board closed churches, schools and all public meeting because of an influenza epidemic. The Red Cross delivered "Flu" masks to be distributed by the Board. Schools were reopened on November 6,1918, and all other bans were lifted on November 9. There were 95 cases of "Flu" during the epidemic, of which four cases were fatal.

There are no records of any activity by the Board of Health from April, 1919, until december, 1920, when W. J. Custer was elected Secretary and Mr. Wood was elected President.

Charles Smith was elected Secretary in 1921. Though there were no meetings from 1921 until 1926, there is a very good record of communicable diseases during that time. The Board became active in 1928-29. During that time they began to enforce many of the State Laws.

From 1929 to 1937 there are no records of any meetings or of any action by the board.

In February, 1937, H. C. Hartswick was named temporary Secretary and R. W. Compton was named temporary Health Officer by the Baden Council until such time as a new Board could be created.

On March 1, 1937, the Council appointed these men to the Board of Health: Dr. W. B. Patterson, W. M. McCallister, R. L. Cummings,
